Name: Niniane
Age: 18
Year Added: Year 5, 18
Rank: Guildmember
Appearance: Niniane is not an amazingly pretty young woman, but has a charactered enough face to get away with being classed ‘good looking’ or ‘passable.’ Of average height and compact in frame, Niniane is not an imposing presence, but she can be an impressive one. Reaching around 5’5”, and scarcely that, she is lean, with gray-ish blue eyes that seem to have a hard time deciding what color to be. She isn’t quite ‘slim’ but well built with a solid frame, and classic feminine curves. She wears her hair around chin length, in what we might call a ‘bob,’ with bangs brushed to one side and sleek dark brown locks shorn precisely. Her hair boasts a very slight wave, and is a dark brown in shade, mixed with tones of lighter brown and rich chestnut. Long Turns of practice have given her admirable composure and despite her midrange height she can make herself seem much taller. Her skin is pale (typical ‘pinkish’ or red depending on the season) with gold overtones and her eyes slant minutely upwards, framed by dark lashes and set beneath angular, dark brows. Her face is rather long, with a daintily pointed chin. The gentle frame of her hair softens her high, sharp cheekbones and features. Niniane has learned that depending on what she’s wearing can make herself look extremely fragile and small, or mature.
Personality: Perhaps it is to make up for her lack of size, but Niniane is very commanding. She’s used to giving orders and having them obeyed. When she tells one to do something she expects it to be done, and well. It takes a lot of work to earn her trust and almost as much to keep it. She’s used to navigating her way through perilous political situations and as such has developed a keen sense of when to turn her tact on. She is not a blunt woman by nature, and tends to take a roundabout way to get to what she wants to say. Quiet but forceful, she’ll never say anything that she doesn’t mean, but has a tendency to make big decisions without really thinking about what will come of it. Even though she is a mature young woman in most ways, she tends to be impulsive and can be snappish and quick tempered when people don’t do as she thinks they ought. Niniane is very (but belatedly) aware that actions mostly come with consequences. All the same, she loathes the word ‘compromise’ and hates giving in. She enjoys being ‘in charge’ and tends to think that people’s lives would be better if they would just let her have a hand in running them…but is surprisingly modest for the most part.
To put it simply, Niniane is a ‘fighter.’ She fiercely stands up for hers elf and others when the cause is ‘worthy’ and when she has deemed it so, doesn’t care a bit for what people think of her. Long years have taught her to hide weaknesses such as fear of anxiety, and anxious she often is.
She presents a cool and cynical façade to most of the world, but cares deeply for the well being of others even with this makes causes her to be mocked. Niniane startles easily and does her best to be rigidly proper to avoid gossip of rumors. While she is ‘above’ such things as gossip, seeming to be a quiet recluse, she carefully keeps her ears open, and over the years has cultivated informants to keep her up to date. Some call her a merciless teacher, but she doesn’t care as long as she keeps her students alive later in life, and that they do their future jobs well. She knows what price a leader has to pay and is willing to pay it. A holdover from her days as a wealthy snob, she holds grudges and knows the best ways to get revenge….but usually regrets it once her temper cools.
History: The cherished, spoiled daughter of a minor Lord, Niniane was raised her entire life to expect that when she ordered something to be done, it would be. Needless to say, with all of this coddling, she turned into a haughty young lady. If she asked for something, it was given. If she disliked a servant, they were dismissed. However, at the same time, she was being raised with very strict principles. Her father, for reasons known to none but himself, hated people of the Guild and Collective with equal intensity. If one was so much as sighted near their estate, everyone was ushered inside, and lectures were given at least once a week on how they were a ‘race steeped in vice’ and morally deprived, and that if any of his people even dreamed of going to the Guild or Collective, he would kick them out. For the most part, though, he was a good leader, and just. On the other hand, this sort of dislike was drilled into Niniane, and while it hasn’t completely settled, due to the kinder influence of her mother, she still is uncertain of how she views the Spirit-bonded of the world.
At 18 years, she had set her heart on going to a festival at one of the nearby estates with her mother and father, and having been accustomed to getting her way, was struck dumb when he refused. Before she could plead with him to change his mind, he was gone with a party of other people from their lands. That day, in her father’s absence, she found the perfect opportunity to get back at him. Spurred by his dislike of the Guild, Niniane boldly set off to find it, with no idea what to do when she got there. When her father returned to the Estate several days later, he found his only daughter gone…and to the one place he loathed above all others.
Personal Element: Fire
Fighting Style: Niniane fights…creatively…using any weaknesses in her opponents that she can glean. She’s something of a Mage, since she was trained in magic but not with weapons, as a female noble, but only moderately talented, and prefers the technique of flying at people shrieking at the top of her lungs since she wasn't taught any really combative elements of her Element.
Hearing Niniane shriek, one can understand why her opponents don’t last very long. If they get any closer, she uses her walking staff, which she has taught herself to wield quite expertly.
Weapon(s) of Choice: Niniane doesn’t exactly carry any weapons…except for a long, shiny wooden walking stick which has been intricately carved, which she wields as a staff. And she can be quite fierce when she wants to be.
