It had been late last night, or very early in the morning, depending, around three, when Uni's contractions had started. So, here they were now, in the infirmary, at five in the morning. Uni was in a bed, by a window, with curtains around it. While Uni had wanted Kaos there, the healer/midwife had stubbornly put a sleepy foot down, stating that "It wasn't the business of a man what went on, his work was already done." So, the curtain had gone up, to much grumbling from Uni, and the three males were left outside. Desh was leaning against the wall, grimacing, and clenching his hands. Rett, on the other hand, was staring at the floor, sitting in a chair, his eyes blank and half lidded. He was still semi-confused as to why they were here. Kaos was pacing back and forth, with his hands behind his back, and chewing on his lip. What if something went wrong? The midwife seemed okay, if slightly tired, and more than a bit old fashioned. But... But... Agh! He stopped his pacing for a moment to look out the window. A shadow flitted across it, just as the sun rose, and there was a small scream from Uni, and a baby started to cry. Kaos' eye twitched, and he had taken a few steps toward the curtain, not even noticing that Desh's head had turned, and his eyes had gone red, when the midwife appeared. Rett's head was up as well, his eyes bright now. "You can come in now sir." She disappeared again. Kaos wasted no time in getting to the curtain, and going around it. Uni was waiting for him, her hair tied up, and a large smile on her face. In her arms was a bundle of white cloth, which was making giggling noises. The midwife had gone, probably to do something midwife-y. Uni turned the bundle, and bright alert eyes met Kaos'. "Girl," Uni informed him. "We never decided on a name, what do you think?" She smiled at him, her gray-green eyes twinkling. Kaos watched both of them for a moment, speechless. He finally managed to find his voice, and croaked, "Ambellina..." Uni's smile got wider, and she touched the baby's head gently with a finger. "Our child Ambellina." It was at this moment, that a huge shadow filled the now sunlit window. All three pairs of eyes took in the figure for a moment, then Uni gasped. There was a bird, silhouetted against a red sun which was just beginning to warm the sleeping world. There was a silence as Uni and Kaos watched the bird, and the bird watched the baby, who was staring back with intelligent brown eyes. Then Ambellina laughed, and she reached her small hands out toward the bird, which spread it's wings and let out a cry. The sound seemed to go through to the heart, and pierce the soul. Then it disappeared into ringing silence once more. The bird jumped back-wards, its golden claws leaving marks in the stone and wood. Blood red plumage was visible for a moment, before the dropped out of sight. The silence continued until the curtain rustled and the midwife, followed by Desh, appeared. The baby ignored the old lady, and focused on Desh instead. Desh was starring at her in astonishment. A grin flashed across the baby's face, and she pointed at Desh and made a small noise. Desh's hair burst into flame, and he blinked. Desh reached a hand up, and winced. The midwife had screamed, and rushed to get water. Desh didn't move, but stared at his burned hand, until a bucket of freezing water was dumped over his head, followed by the bucket for good measure. His hair had been burned away, but it was already growing back. he spat out some water, and glared at the baby, who was giggling again. "I think she likes you," Uni told her demon, who's eyes had gone red again. Rett had stuck his head into the area, to see what was going on. He quickly withdrew is head, preferring not to be on the demon's bad side. Muttering, the midwife stalked off to get a towel, and more water... Just in case the child did anything else like that little stunt. "I think we know what her element is..." Uni told Kaos. "Yeah, I think so..."

Bloody bird. He just had to come back at this point in time, had he? What about their promise? Did that mean nothing? Well, she had to assure that nothing did happen. Her window had been thrown open, and fingers with years of experience pulled back on the bow with its special arrow. Special because of what it was made of, what it was fletched with...ironically, fletched with the pheonix's feathers from another lifetime. But it was still Andrea. Andrea! Her curse, her freedom... Unfortunately, no clear shot would be available unless he moved towards the next window over. And true to Era's luck, the arrow's heavy scent made her sneeze at the opportune shot. Then the firebird cried -anything but that soulrendering cry, which seemed directed at her, and pleading!- and something else cried -Jilath, not a baby! Anything but that!- but the arrow loosed, and hit its target trough the heart, and Andrea dropped from the air. Even still falling from the heights he had been, he began to burn, his form twisting and dwindling to a round, slightly olong shape on the ground. She dropped the bow as if singed, tears rising to her eyes but staying there. It was rare for her to cry, despite how down she was, maybe because Era had cried almsot a literal lifetime of tears. Not her lifetime, but more the lifetime of someone with a normal lifespan. The scientist half twisted her ankle going down the steps, and then morbidly wondered if she should have juped from the window instead. Sure, it'd kill her, but death had never been an issue. Finally she got her way out the Guild gates, and around to where the pheonix had fallen, and still a fire burned around what seemed to be some sort of dark ruby. No, it was his egg, and it was picked up despite the burns recieved. She deserved them, Era knew. The eyes had won their fight and become dry, empty of tears, but from her eyes you could see she was crying without crying, and softly she could be heard to whisper how sorry she was to the egg, which gave no response.

Kaos couldn't have been more proud when his new child set Desh's hair aflame. "I love Jilath's sense of humor." he whispered to his wife before kissing her deeply, then moveing to the baby. He smile was just as wide as his on his wedding day as he looked at the little baby girl. "this is...amazing." he mumbled happily.

((Don't know.))
"When can we go back to our room?" Uni asked. She didn't like the smell of singed hair.

Kaos nodded, agreeing with his wife as they both looked to the midwife.

She glared at both of them, her hands on her hips. "I would prefer to keep ya here. But I can't stop you if you want to be alone. If you need anything come on back." She then huffed, and left.
