Oh, yes, fine, but you haven't had to deal with him twenty-four/seven, have you? Day in and day out, 'sorry sorry sorry, oh, let me get that, ooh, look, a kitty, eew, please don't eat that in front of me, you know I don't like it, blah blah blaaaaah...' He's so annoying. And I can't imagine how he'd react to being with one person all the time. Or how that poor person would react. I am telling you, you would go insane.

I don't mean literally ten seconds, Norai said patiently, her tone indicating that she was talking to a small child. I mean, it isn't a big-deal kind of affection. Just a fleeting thing.

You yourself said it, the demented, evil, fluffy wolf thing continued blithely. Besides, he's not the type to settle even if you did have a lasting affection. It was not apparent if Norai meant 'settle down' or 'settle for less than' by this comment.
