"I'm sorry. I just get so scared. It's ridiculous. Nonsensical. It's not like I'm going to fall- unless I get myself all worked up. I guess I just get confused and forget where I am... I'm not at home anymore, I'm not. I don't have to worry about it. No one's going to push me, except my idiotic self..."

Paden nuzzled her comfortingly. "Its ok, everyone has a fear or two, its no big deal."

"I'm such an idiot..." She sort of wished he would ask why she was afraid. It would be nice. To tell someone. She and Amy both remembered who they where before they went to Eris. Well, Amy remembered, but she didn't remember. Amy didn't remember what happened to her five minutes ago, unless it involved food or something fun. She wasn't capable of having painful memories. Eris totally took them apart and reassembled them, trying to make them into a different single person, but there'd been an accident and they'd split. It was odd, at first, because they'd used to be one girl. A blonde, too, but very tall, with bright blue eyes. Looking in the mirror had been odd, because even though they knew they weren't her anymore and there were only vague memories, there'd be a nagging feeling that they looked wrong.

"Why do trees bug you so much?" He asked curiously, he didn't want her to think of scary things but he couldn't help but be curious.

"Well, when I was little-" before Eris- "-we- I- oh, what the hell- I had an older brother who thought it was fun to dangle me from very high places. Like a tower. He never put me in a tree, but my... erm... later mother did. It was sort of... awful. The tree bit was worse, but I'm not going to go into that. Sheesh, I can't believe I let anyone do that..." She'd moved her hands aside slightly, but her eyes were still covered.

"Not really," Ary said. "He never actually dropped me. He almost did once, though. I started screaming bloody murder when I dropped something I'd been carrying and watched it plummet, and he was so startled he almost dropped me. He was really a sweetie, though. Especially when you compare that to- never mind. I just don't like trees. Towers I can usually deal with."

"I'll be sure to never make you climb a tree again, I promise." he said with a reassuring smile.

"...Okay..." She said. "Could you, ah, put me down?" she asked after a moment.

"...What happens if I say no?" He joked.

"I bite you," she informed him flatly.

"Well, while that sounds oh so much, i'm just gonna have to decline." he laughed, letting her go, of course seeing as they were lying on the ground and she was ontop of him, gravity saw to it that she was still on top of him when he let go...and he was still naked...a fact neither seemed to have noticed so far.

Ary stood up, and walked away. She sat on a tree stump. "Okay," she said, "The way I see it, what we have to do is Change back and go back to the Guild before something else stupid happens." She was too upset to be flustered.

"i thought you weren't going back until you had a mate?" he asked in a tone that showed he was genuinely curious and not angling to be said mate.

"I do not recall ever saying that," Ary replied, frowning. "And if I did, that's not what I meant."
