She cast a careless look over Thistlen, before drawling, "I dunno...she looks kind of.../finished/, doesn't she?" It was true. It looked as if Eris did anymore splicing, Is would shrink down to becoming a bird. In a secret way, she almost -ALMOST- wanted to be experimented on that way. Almost. And Eris had made it sound like a dare, which Tessa usually foolishly took...

Thistlen eyed them both with dull eyes and kept still. The green parrot which was her partner hopped over to her and chirped. That was the beauty of Eris' experiments, in her opinion- the animal subject wasn't harmed. "Hmm..." Eris said, cocking her head to one side curiously, as though considering Tessa's words. "Okay! What do you want to do- assist or be the subject?"

Something in those dull eyes made her heart ache. Obviously Thistlen expected that it was going to happen to her... It decided her decision. "Subject," she said, mouth turning dry and bitter with fear. "But ONLY if I have the same freedoms as before...Able to roam around, help out."

The green-gold eyes in the cage blinked, slowly.
Eris shrugged. "Okay. Whatever you like- but you're not allowed to run away like the wolfies and the kitty and the..." She tried to make a pet name for her first experiment. "Um... the... dragon...ie... Anyway! Yes. Okay. And Thistlen will be my assistant! How's that sound, Thistlen, dear?" Thistlen turned her head to the side, looking away from them, out of the window near her cage. It was snowing outside, and everything was clear and bright. "Thistlen!" Eris said sharply. "You will speak when spoken to or I'll have no choice but to use the bad-bad!" The bad-bad was something that no one but its victims knew about. You don't want to know. Thistlen turned back to look at them, and shrugged. "As you wish," she said. Eris was very happy with the sound of the birdie's voice. It was flat, and completely dead. No rebellion in this one! "Okay!"

Tessa laughed. "Where would I run to?" she said wildly, yellow eyes flashing. "It's either the Guild or the Collective- and both Jilath and Vintaph know I fit in better here!" Speaking of Jilath, where had oyam been lately? Had Casrina done anything with her? Did it matter right now?

"Hee! That's the spirit! Okay, take the birdie out of its cage and bring it to the lab. I'll meet you there." Witht that, she skipped out of the room.

She pulled a key from her pocket; and let out THistlen. Shrugging, she gently began to leade the girl after Eris to the lab, dread growing with every step.

Thistlen followed the other girl, not knowing what else to do, silently glancing back out the window before it dissapeared from view.
Eris was waiting for them when they got to the lab. "'Kay!" she said, cheerfully. "I've got a lovely choice of beasties here for you, Tessie! Come look, come look! Tell me which one you want!"

She released Thistlen, slowly walking over to Eris. Many cages were on the wall, all filled with pampered pets who were able to live the life every cat and dog dreamed of, handled gently by Eris and given all the toys and treats they could desire, while the humans Eris had were treated poorly. The scientist was twisted. Tessa managed to give a real smile to Eris. "What do you want to use?" she asked, a single dark eyebrow raising as she flipped back her black braid.
((Kind of hard to choose since I don't know what's even there....))

((Make something up. 0o I'm uninspired.))
"Plllllleeeeeeaaaaaasssssseeeeeeee choose!" Eris whined, hopping up and down.

((But I don't know what to do! I thought you were going to choose something!))
She surveyed the cages and carefully crafted miniature habitats. If she had to be one of them, which would she be...Or, in other words, which did she respect the most? Definitely not any of the prey, not that Eris had many. Something strong, larger...nothing fishy nor reptilian either. Dragon did sound fun, but Tessa doubted Eris would want to repeat an experiment, and she didn't want to become as blubbery as Amaranth anyways. Which one, which one... Canine wouldn't work for her. She admired wolves, but with the last experiment being split into to different people? /She/ definitely liked herself together, and whole. Poor Amarillys! She shut the compassionate feelings out; she shouldn't feel that way. She couldn't...Hadn't she chosen this path. Suddenly Tessa was unsure if she really was supposed to be with the Collective. Maybe she was supposed to be with the Guild... She shook her head to clear it of such thoughts. She had to concentrate, concentrate on the task at hand... No sort of primate either, nor avian. Although she knew Eris wasn't going to try to put restrictions on her to make her obey, she didn' fancy having feathers. They made her sneeze. Which didn't really leave much left....there were bears, but they were too big, too bulky, and Eris only had some old circus performing bear. What was left? She could have nothing in the water, nothing in the air. Snakes sounded interesting, but she didn't want to be cold-blooded. That would be bad up in the mountains, where it was always cold. Eris had a young Gryphon; but again, Tessa didn't feel especially inclined towards feathers. Which left felines. Mouth dry, she managed to squeak out "Tiger!" to Eris. And then her yellow eyes wouldn't change, either...one thing she could be sure of. As if it was much of a relief. Still Eris would have to choose between either a white one or orange...Tessa wasn't going to make any more decisions. And Eris might reject the one she had just made anyways.

"Uh-uh!" Eris said, shaking her head emphatically. "No no no! I tried felines once, and I'm not doing it again." She thought for a moment, wondering what kind of creature to use. "I KNOW!" she shouted suddenly, her eyes falling on a certain creature. At the noise, the animals shifted nervously, wondering what was going on. "A COBRA! IT'S PERFECT! I can trust you not to be all mushy and annoying like the dragon was!"

((Ha! You admit Amaaranth is mushy and annoying!))
Although she didn't particularly like the idea, she didnt' hate it either. And Tessa knew better than to argue with Eris. "I don't think a Cobra would lead to mushy and annoying," she said cautiously, "Dragons are just naturally affectionate...and /she/ wasl ike that before. So..." She looked at Thistlen uneasily, before meeting Eris' eyes. "Now what?" ALthough she perfectly knew, having assisted with the Amarillys project, Tessa felt like she'd feel better if she could be told what was going to happen.

((No. Eris thinks that Amaranth-love is mushy and annoying.))
Eris shrugged, and Thistlen met the glance blankly. "Weeeeeell...." Eris began, slowly, "We're gonna tie you up over there, and then it's gonna be aaaaaaaaaaall dark for a while, and maybe a liiiiiiiiiiiiittle ouchy..." This was a complete lie, as the process was incredibly painful, knocked out or no. "And then we're gonna mix up your genes and when you wake up again-!" she clapped her hands together for emphasis, "-you'll be aaaaaaaall done! And birdie here's gonna help!" Thistlen flinched as she was mentioned, but nodded on cue. "Yep! Ready?" Eris asked.

"No," she said dryly. "But seeing as I don't think anyone would ever be completely ready to have all their DNA rearranged, why don't we go on ahead?"
((You know what I figured out, which makes it perfect? O.o She's the one who has built up defenses against poison, so if she accidently bit herself when this is all over, she wouldn't die. Isn't that /odd/?))
