((Okay...My profile style of writing is a little bit different from most peoples, and kind of...rambling. I have no idea if I've done this right or anything, so...yeah! Please let me know what I can improve etc. Did I leave anything out? Did I say too much?))
Name: Khaliall Anwyth
Age: 17
Year Added: Year Four, Age 16
Rank: Candidate
Appearance: Not tall, not short. Not slim, not fat. Not pretty, not ugly. Overall, Khaliall is pretty much average with little that makes her stand out from the typical Holder girl. Her hair is dark and brown, gilded with strands of copper and highlighted in gold. These tresses, not thick or flowing, are cropped to just over her shoulders, to brush them lightly, and are sometimes tied back in a loose tail, from which inevitably, her fine hair will quickly escape. Her eyes are an odd color that can appear as any color, depending on her surroundings and what she is wearing. In a clear, bright light or close scrutiny, it is revealed that they are a slightly muddy shade, that is all the colors combined, as if randomly mashed together, with hints of brown around the edges, though dominantly green-gray and blue at the centers.. Her wide, solemn eyes are framed by long, dark lashes and dark brows that are often furrowed in thought, and are the only part of her countenance that display her emotions. She is slightly stocky, with an undeniably female frame, though not curvaceous enough to be considered beautiful. Her features are pleasantly composed, though her brows are slightly too dark. Her chin is delicately pointed, and she boasts high cheekbones and a sweet smile, with a hint of bitterness. Her nose is slightly snub at the end, and her slim face lends her a mature look. Though not tall, she moves with the grace that height or beauty lends, though she has neither to extreme extents...though some do consider her pretty. Reaching up to 5'5" at most, she carries herself with a dignity that her timidness would not lead one to expect. Long, tapered hands are her favorite feature, with slender fingers and elegant nails capping them, she tends them well.
Personality: Rather insecure with herself, others, and the world in general, Khaliall is a somewhat surprising youth. She doesn’t trust herself to make the right decisions, even though she’s generally quite intelligent. She lacks confidence in herself… but can have a very frigid temper. Apt to need time for choices, due to the fact that she views all angles of the situation first. Rather timid as well, she can hardly speak up to acquaintances, much less strangers. She’s extremely shy (evidently) and prefers a few close friends, and lots of time alone. She hates having to be in the spotlight, quite happy to step back and let someone else have the credit. However, when angered, it’s best to watch out, for this quiet young lady can be a formidable opponent. She enjoys pursuing obscure bits of information, and has extreme empathy to other’s emotions…sometimes to a painful extent for herself. Some things can inspire her defense, which is spirited and determined. If someone wrongs somebody close to her, Khaliall can’t help but want revenge.
Though she’s bright, she tries to hide it, and is apt to ‘get the job done’ well, and promptly vanish from the scene. She can manipulate quite easily from behind the scenes and though she’d never admit it, enjoys doing so. Keeps mostly to herself, there’s a sort of constrained sparkle about her. For Khaliall, embarrassment and especially humiliation is a worse punishment than physical injury. She hates being flung into the spotlight suddenly, but can be charismatic and charming when with a long time acquaintance, or pre-prepared what she was going to say. She tries to be fair to everyone, though this trait can lead her to stress. When she's angered, she tends to start using long words and eloquent phrases, but her tones get very very cold. Brave in a quiet sort of way, she's terrified of bugs and is very emotional, and is rarely the first to champion people when someone is in trouble due to the fact that she fears being made a fool of. She is very good with children and youth, and tends to get along better with those who are her juniors than her peers, though she has nothing against the latter. She is pretty mature for her age. She's easily amused, but rarely displays her emotions out of long habit, and has a wry -somewhat bitter and definitely cynical- outlook on life, which stems from her lack of confidence. Khaliall has a knack for understanding people, and is very able to sympathize and inspire confidence in others, though she herself is very timid to do so.
Almost invisible, she has a knack of fading into the background in social settings, which is exactly as she would wish it most of the time. She listens intently, picking up many scraps of information which are then stored away in an impressively organized mind. She's extremely stubborn, and if one insists on her doing something that she would rather not, she is more apt to refuse than bend after persistent demands, even if she was on the verge of agreeing, just out of contrariness. When someone takes something that she considers ‘hers’ she can become extremely defensive, and when she believes in something: she believes in it whole heartedly, leading to the fact that disputing it results in a heated debate on her part. She’ll speak up the most when she’s arguing, which she can be provoked to do by contesting her ideas. She can be surprisingly defiant and vocal.
History: Born in a small village, hardly large enough to have a leader, and of moderate prosperity, Khaliall was the youngest daughter of a minor Merchant and one of the village Women. Her mother was originally in love with a different Trader, who left her after their first child was born to try to raise more money and give her better prospects. The woman, finding herself lacking a mate and thinking her love dead, married in the long interval which he was gone. In these 5 years, she produced Khaliall, by her new husband. Her first son Tavril, at 6 turns at this point, was fascinated by the little girl. When his father returned that Turn, only to find his love married and happily settled, he left the Village. Khaliall’s mother, appalled by the situation that had occurred, left Tavril with his new Half-sister to pursue her first love. In this time, Khaliall –who had never really known her mother- grew, and established a bond with her older brother, who shielded her from the village Gossips. Her mother never returned. Perhaps she found her love. Perhaps she found somewhere else. Nobody ever heard from her again. Khaliall’s father cared for both of the children dutifully, until Tavril was 17 turns old, when he declared that he could care for himself, though he continued to look after his young daughter. There were rumors that she would be betrothed to a young Merchant of good standing around the village, where her family resided. This betrothal wasn't of much consequence to either youth, though Khaliall hardly knew her potential husband. Though perhaps it wouldn't be a love match, Khaliall was practical enough not to hope for better, though she did dream when she was alone in the village Library, with her lessons, being lucky enough to be able to both read and write. She pursued these far more than boys or friends as a typical teen might have. This lead to her being a very introverted young woman, with a preference for books and records and fictitious tales more than company. The betrothal never went through, for Tavril protested vehemently at his shy sister being put into such a situation. It was then that her beloved brother decided to pursue the same career path as his father…but was dissuaded by the then 11 turn old Khaliall, who protested his leaving her. She was a shy, withdrawn child who had grown to be ashamed of what she viewed as the unfaithful behavior of her mother. As a result of this, her real friends were few, and she found solace in the records of the Village, her lessons with the son of the village Mayor, and her half-brother. He was as attached to her as she was to him, and agreed not to leave her. He then went into working with the some of the Herders of the village, and the farmers. At 20 Turns, the young man –to everyone’s surprise- left the village, without a trace: he disappeared completely. She thought that he would come back for her, but eventually rumors drifted back to her remote home that he was dead. And the rumors said that the Collective might have been behind it. Stunned, devastated and furious, Khaliall set off on her own, two years after he initially left, and determined to find out what happened to Tavril…and if possible, find revenge. So it was that she wound up in the Guild of the Eastern Wind.
Personal Element: Earth
Pets: None
Fighting Style: Taught to fight by her half-brother mainly in self defense, Khaliall knows some dirty tricks that one wouldn’t expect of her, and how to incapacitate an enemy. Her style of fighting is calculated: she judges her opponent and decides how best to exploit the weaknesses that she finds. She is best with throwing daggers, or up close with the same weapons (of which she wields two) and knows very little magic if any. She is surprisingly adept at combat…as long as there are no rules.
Weapon(s) of Choice: Not elaborate but functional: Khaliall’s preferred weapons are two daggers with steel pommels, of which one is kept stuffed visibly through her belt and the other is down her boot. Both have 8” blades and polished hardwood grips.
