Long ago on the planet of Kinuva, there was a great nuclear war. All the major groups had these terrible weapons and they began to annihilate each other one by one, each hoping to have the most power and come out on top. However, as the war waged on, more and more people were being killed and there was no clear victor. They had to stop the war in fear of killing all of mankind and obliterating their planet. The planet was left on the brink of destruction; the nuclear weapons had destroyed almost everything. The people blamed these weapons and technology for leaving them helpless with very little to survive on. The leaders got together to discuss the outcome of their dying planet, in hopes of finding a solution to the eminent problem before it was to late.
It was decided that all records of any nuclear weapons were to be destroyed. Essentially, they were going to completely erase them from existence. They didn’t want anyone to know about them or make them, for another war would most definitely destroy Kinuva. The planet was in no shape to continue where they had left off before the war, so they had to begin anew. All the technology was forgotten and they regressed into a more ancient and forgotten way of living. There were no fancy governments or factories, there were simpler yet still very efficient weapons that they had once used long ago and most of the technology was discarded for a more simple way of living that most found enjoyable and they adapted well over time.
However, there was one group that broke away and did not agree with this new philosophy. They wanted to rule the world and have control for themselves. They knew that their small band would not be enough to overcome the mass majority of the planet, so the beseeched the Sadistic God, Vintaph. He of course helped them, sending evil spirits to give them strength. These people, along with their evil allies, called themselves The Collective and set out to conquer.
They didn’t go full out at first, they needed to build up their army and plan for a future conquest. But they did begin committing crimes among the towns and villages. The crime rate went up as more robberies occurred, bands of outlaws would come in and take what they wanted and killed those that got in their way. The people of Kinuva realized that they needed a way to keep the peace and have a leader take charge to give them guidance. A few people stepped up and formed their own band to battle against the outlaws and they called themselves the Guild of the Eastern Wind.
The new guild fought hard to maintain peace and was doing well against The Collective who were making trouble. But their strength was not enough to match the evil spirits who joined them. They needed help. They went to ask the Benevolent God, Jilath, for help and guidance. She greatly helped them and sent her own spirits to aid the humans of Kinuva. These spirits rose from an ancient well in the middle of town and chose a human they thought worthy. The pair became bonded for life and the spirit would protect and aid the human they bonded to in any way possible. There were many different spirits that appeared and they greatly helped the humans suppress the crime, the two most powerful bonded themselves to the two leaders, the King Shade and Queen Elemental. The guild grew larger and they two leaders decided to construct a sort of headquarters around the ancient well. A huge castle was created and it became the home to the guild members. Many more people joined, each passing through an entrance exam before becoming a part of it. Once they passed, they would try to bond with a spirit on the ceremonial day when the spirits would appear. Life continued nicely in the guild and it prospered. They received help from the neighboring towns and they were successful in battling the resistance.
Now, centuries later, the Guild of the Eastern Wind still stands, more prosperous than ever. Other guilds were created along the way, due to the overwhelming number of people, but the first guild remains the largest and most powerful, it’s the leader of the guild network. The leaders of the guild are determined by whoever the King Shade and Queen Elemental choose to bond to, and there are only one of each of them present at a time in the guilds. They still continue the fight against The Collective, hoping to maintain peace in the planet of Kinuva.
