Pern with a twist!
In a Pern decimated by the 'Dragon wars,' ended only 10 Turns previously, nothing is the same.
For, indeed, after the horrors of a plague that swept Pern a century after the devestating loss of AIVAS and the end of Thread, the Holders turned on their long time protectors. The cause was simply that in the plague, so many were struck ill that food was scarce, and still Tithes continued to the Weyr. The Holders were fed up, and in the way that humans have, revolted. The riders, after the loss of their legendary duties as Thread fighters, had no choice but to fight back against the rebellious Holders. It was not long before even the riders turned on each other, pitting Weyr against Weyr and dragon against dragon even as the Holders too turned against their former allies.
A small group of riders fled into the snowy wastes of the far South in order to escape the full out War, horrified by what their world had come to.
While the rest of Pern was in the turmoil of the first war it had ever seen, they slowly built up a small Weyr, and very gradually others joined them as they tired of the horrors of outside. They shunned all technology for what it had brought ontheir kin, returning to the ages old traditions of their ancestors.
Now, these wars have at last ended, leaving in it's wake a very dazed Pern, after almost a century of conflict. All technology was forgotten, and most records were destroyed. Many of the Holds and Weyrs which once crowded Pern were gone, having been joined to their conquerors...or destroyed completely. No one is certain of anything, least of all their future, as Misuri Weyr, now prosperous and busy from the refugees of the War, steps forward. It has been isolated for many Turns, and supported by the trickle of folks fleeing into the far south. In the time span of the war, which lasted across several generations, their dragons colors have mutated into amazing hues from the results of a contained plague which temporarily struck the Weyr, not long after the initial plague caused such uprisings in the outer world. Some of the people themselves are 'changed' by what is called by Misurians the 'Touch of teh Chosen.'
These folk have strange abilities: some like those of the dragons and others never seen before. Few, they are revered by those of Misuri and ignored by outsiders as freaks.
They are just one more example of the changes occuring on Pern...and perhaps, of those that are still to come.
After all, worlds are always changing, and it seem sthat the Musirians, as they rejoin Pern for the first time in a century, might just provide an extra push.
Will a century of conflict forever cause a rift between the folk of Pern, or will it manage to rebuild with the influence of the Misurians and their strange Chosen, or will it once again plunge into chaos?
Take your side. Face the elements! Save Pern from itself, before it's too late!
The Weyr has just been attacked by a peculiar band of renegades after the hatchings of Sea Kalyroath and Illusion Kamath's clutches, sending both dragonesses Between for eternity. Now, Golden Lilath is the Senior Queen, and her rebellious rider Kisa is uncertain of how to handle the new duties...especially when the Plague of the Chosen strikes the weyr. Within 24 hours, many Weyrdwellers have fallen ill, and now in quarantine, the small band of riders who have survived must take care of themselves...or lose the long battle to reconnect with Pern!
