he had managed to pique her curiosity. Not to hard of a feat, but...amazing. "Like where?"

"Oh, I've been just about everywhere it's possible to go on Kinuva when you're only twenty five. Let's see, I haven't been in the same place for more than a month since I was thirteen, so that's twelve years of wandering around. Of course, I haven't been everywhere, but a lot of places, definitely." Demitri was just glad she was talking to him.

"I mean more specifically." Not that it mattered, did it? Coming form her, someone who had ventured off to other continents...in reality really seen the world.

"Well..." Now Demitri looked embarassed. "I'm not sure, really, what to call the places I've been.. I've been to the other side of the mountain range, to the mountain range beyond that, to the edge of this continent, and I'm on my way to the other coast. I should probably be moving on, soon, but I really like it here."

"So you've mainly been through the places abhorring magic. Have you gotten to any magical centers?" The area around the Guild wasn't the only places of magic...there were pockets of it everywhere. "I'm only staying here until I finish my project...then I'm moving on."

"Only one other place. And I was only there for a little while. Nice people, though. I can't help but think that if other mages traveled more, people wouldn't be so afraid."

"Or they would be more afraid, since they didn't have that power." Ha. She found the rituals of those magicless amusing. They'd tried her for having magic...and she'd survived both of their tests and numerous others by others across Kinuva.

"Well, I think after living amongst them for a while, people would realize that mages could be beneficial, and aren't evil at all," Demitri argued. Not in a very, well, argumentative way, since it was Demitri, but there was no other word for it.

"I doubt it. The only way they'd be convinced that mages weren't evil would be if their children were born with magic, which wouldn't happen since they think magic is evil." Magic had been a side product of the nuclear war. Some people who survived got the ability, others didn't. And, naturally, those with magic tended to stick with others like them....and that was how the divide began.

"But I saw situations like that, and the parents let their children be killed because they didn't really consider them to be their children if they had magic- children of evil, they called them."

"Exactly my point. Although the parents should have had more stomach. But in this world what does one expect?" She sounded extremely bitter, and a hefty amount of scorn was directed to those parents. "I could never see how the parent with magi could let that happen..." Her hands trembled marginally as Era continued to stroke Saulin, who reached up to her face to give her a snakey-kiss with his tongue to almsot reassure the scientist.

"People would be surprised what others would let happen to their children," Demitri said softly. Somehow, he was rather sure that if he had said 'you would be surprised,' he'd be very, very wrong in this case.

((-starts laughing- Somehow I found your last post VERY amusing....))
But she was back in her own little closed off space, only giving a nod. He was bringing up painful memories. Like most of hers were. FUnny how the most horrible prospects of life stuck more firmly than the good ones... The last bag was soon finished, and Saulin (who had been dumped off her lap as she got up) was back over by Demitri. And Era was fervently wishing that there was no more stuff to restrieve...although she had twice as much stuff still waiting to be brought in her from her many hiding spots.

Demitri reached out and stroked Saulin's smooth head with a finger absentmindedly, watching Era unpack. "Is there anything else? May I help you?"

"There's other things, and they're outside somewhere. I can get them later. And as before, I don't need any help." Except for maybe mental. But (haha) there really was no one who coule help her there....
